The Challenge
A division of a global logistics and supply chain services provider, the client enables Just-in-Time (JIT) and Just-in-Sequence (JIS) delivery of parts to automotive assembly lines, alongside warehouse operations and distribution of finished goods and spare parts to distributors. The core business's supply chain was challenged by loosely integrated systems, manual intervention, and data inconsistency. The business needed to improve:
- Contracted KPIs with Manufacturer including: on-time-in-full (OTIF) delivery, sequence/JIS adherence, order and pick accuracy, inventory accuracy
- Operational efficiency: lean metrics, productivity, asset utilisation and cost
Point solutions were not going to address the fundamental integration issues or transform the value chain. Without unifying data across the technology landscape, the value chain could not be connected and managed as a single automated workflow — gains in one step would be lost to manual handoffs at the next.
The Solution
Using the manufacturer's production plans and schedules, an AI-driven platform built on Q-nnect's Platform Q! was deployed to select, order, and deliver the required parts to the right assembly line at the right time. Platform Q! connected systems across sales, finance, warehousing, and transport to drive unified business logic and AI workflow for the sourcing and supply of parts. The solution included:
- Agentic AI workflows to measure and alert on sub-process and lead performance indicators
- AI-formulated BOM, with automated stock-level checks and inventory auto-replenishment
- Automated scheduling of parts transport to the manufacturer's plant at the desired time
- Automated invoicing, 3-way matching, and order closure
- Unified data across sales, finance, and logistics to eliminate inconsistencies
The Results
The client's selection and delivery of the right part, at the right time and location, was more granular and thus more accurate than the manufacturer's original plan. The manufacturer's complex, time-critical supply chain needs were met. The client observed measurable gains in both KPI performance and day-to-day operations:
- Higher efficiency, reduced disruption, and leaner, more cost-effective manufacturing
- More accurate selection and delivery of the right part, at the right time, against the manufacturer's plan
